Your Poem … Sort of
What’s up, loser. Happy birthday.
Thought you’d get a poem too?
Guess what brother? That won’t happen.
I’m afraid this has to … be the case.
Alright, the time has come again.
A poem’s what you get
I’m sorry dude, if this seems rude
My poems are my pet.
You’re turning 15, brother dear.
Won’t someone make it cease?
I still remember 15 years
Before, when we had peace.
You’ve got a job, you’re making friends
I find myself impressed
After these years of foolishness
You know how to get dressed.
I love you, bro, but no homo
It’s been great by your side.
I got to see your greatest wins
I sat there when you cried.
Despite the broken hearts and all
The sadness in your eye.
I plan to love you till the end
To love you till I die.
I pray one day, or even now
That God will show you grace
That you may know the wonders done
And one day see his face.
When that day comes, with open arms
A brother twice you’ll be
And still I pray for that sweet day
When you his face shall see.
I pray you many, many more.
I pray for family too.
When children of your own you’ll have.
And we grow old, us two.
